Women's Club Punjabi University Patiala (ਮਹਿਲਾ ਕਲੱਬ )
Women's club, Punjabi University, Patiala is an integral part of Punjabi University, structure. It has been actively functioning for more than 2 decades. It is a common forum for all women teachers of the University. This club is steered by Dr Jagjit Kaur. Under her able guidance, and patronage of eminent sikh scholar and Academician Dr Jaspal Singh, the club has been given a new direction. Of on one hand, University has touched new heights, Women's club on the other, has also acquired a new identity. All the members of the club meet regularly, at least, once in a month, despite their busy schedules. These meetings provide an occasion for sharing of views, celebrating the achievements, interaction, entertainment and also sharing the moments of joy and happiness. The club functions according to it's annual calendar. Special lectures are organised to address the different problems of individual's and families of the members. During last four years, numerous specialist like- child specialist, skin specialist, yoga & aerobic experts have shared their views with members, on the Pedestal provided by Women's Club. Special expert from National Stock Exchange, Delhi, had interacted with members on financial decision making, with a special focus on investment in Gold schemes.
Every year, 8th March is celebrated as Women's day by the club. From time to time, cooking competitions are organised, testing the culinary skills of all. A cake baking competition was organised on the Christmas day, in which all members participate enthusiastically. To preserve our cultural heritage, club celebrates almost all the religious and cultural festivals like Lohri, Basant, Teej etc. During these celebrations, member wear traditional dresses with their original granger.

- Presently the club has more than 80 member's on it's list. The member-ship is open to female teachers of the University and also to the wives of male teachers of the University.
- All the members of the club meet regularly at least, once in a mouth, despite their busy schedules. These meetings provide an occasion for sharing of views, celebrating the achievements, interaction and entertainment and also for sharing moments of joy and happiness.

- Throughout the years, the lectures are organized on the topics like- Role of women in society, identity of women, Her Role in upbringing of children, health and on their related problems etc.
- To preserve our cultural heritage, the club celebrates almost all the religious and cultural festivals like, Lohri, Basant, Teej etc.

- The club takes active part in Social Welfare activities, specially for needy and poor Women, elderly people and children.
- During Summer Vacation, club organizes special workshop, normally 21 days long, for children, for their capacity building and skill development .Following the principle of 'No Profit No loss,' the children are trained in different skills like-English Speaking, Sketching and Painting, Singing, Playing musical instruments, Photography and Videography, theatre arts etc.
- The members of the club visit Old Age Home frequently, provide financial and Health Care facilities to old people.
- The club distributes uniform, school bags, shoes and socks to the poor and needy students in schools in rural and backward areas. The club also provides drinkable water and electric fans to these schools.
- The club has adopted some poor children of class 9th Financial help will be provided to these children to complete their school education by the club
- Every year the club organizes a fete, which is a big attraction for students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the University. In this fete, different stalls are put up by the members of the club to highlight various aspects of Punjabi Culture.
- The Club helps differently abled children regularly and provides them training facilities which enable them to stand on their own feet.
- Fully dedicated to Social Welfare activities, the club members help backward, needy and flood affected people from time to time.
- The club arranges the money, for all type of social welfare activities, from its own sources and contributions given by its members.
- The club has been actively working for the welfare of society for past five years.
